Blog Post 3 - Trevor Yahr - The Transall Saga
My book is called The Transall Saga and it was written by Gary Paulson. I have finished the book. What ended up happening was that he is in the future and he needed to find a way out. The merkon was a evil man that also fell through the light as Mark. Making him from Marks time. But he wanted to kill Mark because he was the King of Transall and wanted it for himself. Mark ended up killing him. The Merkons men chased him all over Transall but ended up finding him where he first came through the light. Just at the moment when they were going to kill him he fell off a rock and the light got him and he went back to his time. He is now wroking on a way to save the world of the the virus. I loved this book it was great. I was pretty powerful in that he had to choose between trying to find his way out or just starting a new life. But he never gave although he was very close and in the end it all worked out. This to me is also the theme of the story to me. I have no questions because they were all cleared uo at the end of the story before the Merkon got killed.
Blog Post 2 - Trevor Yahr - The Transall Saga
My book is called the Transall Saga and it was written by Gary Paulson. So far I am at chapter 34. Currently in the book Mark has meet some very primitive people. He is staying with them in a very primitive town when a more modern people take him and the towns people as slaves. Mark is caught trying to escape and now tied down in the house when he sleeps. Eventually he earn the respect of the family. He the escapes but when he sees a band of Indians he comes back to the City to warn the people of the danger ahead. With this act he earns the respect of everyone in the town and is welcome to but property. He found out that he is one earth. That is all the farther I have got. This is book is amazing. I think it might be the best book I have ever picked up. I cant put it down. The author wrote this book to put some adventure into the everyday persons life. The theme is still no matter what happens you can always prevail. I still think the best character is Mark because he is finding ways to make people think more about him than the average person. “You wanted to live by yourself.” This again is a great quote because it shows that he wanted to do this in the first place but now that its really here he regrets it. Some questions I have are; Is he going to get back to earth, If so how?, Who is the Merkon really?.

I am reading the book Inside the Helmet by Bill Walsh. I have read 3 chapters My book so far has been talking about the quarterback position and about Boomer Esiason and how he has grown as a player. I like the book and it is a good book because its explaining all the positions with great detail from former and current players telling them. The author wrote this either because he has a passion for football or interested in how players think when they do what they do. The theme is what players think when they are playing football. Boomer Esiason because he is the only character I know about and he has grown by the way he plays how much time he puts in and how he sees the game."Quarterback is the hardest position in professional sports". I dont have any questions about my book.
I am reading Inside the Helmet by Bill Walsh. I have now started reading about the running back. They are talking about the running game in the NFL and how the game has switched from running to passing more. I still like this book and it is good because its interesting to hear how the players think when they are on the field. I still believe the author wrote this book because he has a passion for football or curious in how players think under pressure. The theme is how players think when they are in the moment and have to act fast. I like Boomer Esiason the best because he was a great player and is very good at explaining how he played."Yeah! or sometime before when I am breaking through the line Im kind of quiet then boom I bust out of the water." I dont have any questions.
I am reading Inside the Helmet a players view of the NFL by Bill Walsh. I am reading about wide receivers which is my favorite position. So far I have read about quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers. I do like this book I like how it describes what they think its really cool to get inside of their head. It is a good book and is worth reading. He probably wrote it because he has always wanted to know how they think when they are running or going up for a catch or reading a defense cause I know I do. Best character is still Boomer Esiason I just find it unbelievable how he can read the defense and how hard he worked to get to where he is and just how fast his brain and eyes work to how fast his body acts. The media asked Michael Irvin in the division championship if he was going to make any great plays and he said "watch this" and walked away. No questions.

In the third and final part of "Maximum Ride" Max find the little girl that she saved earlier. The girls name is Ella and she takes Max to her house to try to heal her injuries. Ella's mom is a veterinarian so she takes Max to the X-ray room and takes an x-ray. The doctor told Max that her bones were fine but she found what looked like a dog finding chip in her forearm. She said that she can't take the tracker out of her arm so she has to keep it in. After Max leaves the hospital and says thanks to Ella and her mom she finds the rest of the group and tells them what happens. They go out to eat at Taco Well and the Earsers (bad guys) find them there. The Earsers cath Max and send her to the same place Angel is at. Max starts talking to Jeb Batchelder, her created, and that's when the book ends. Max is stil my favorite character because she is really tuff and knows what to do in tuff situations. The only question I have that hasn't been answered that that why do the Earsers want Max and the rest of the team?

In the second part of "Maximum Ride" Max, Fang, and Nudge go out to look for Angel leaving Iggy and Gasman at home because Max thinks they are not yet ready to go on this dangerous of a mission. Whileax, Fang, and Nudge are flying to where they believe they are keeping Angel captured, Max sees a teenage girl in trouble. She swoops down to help the girl but gets shot in the shoulder and part of her wing by one of the guys teaming up on the girl. Max escapes but is badly injured. While all of this is going on Iggy and Gasman make a bomb to try to kill some of the guys who took off with Angel. They find the road where the bad guys are driving and place some nails on the road; the first car smashes through the guard rail and falls off a large cliff and the car explodes. Iggy and Gasman hide inside an abandoned log cabin but little do they know the rest of the pack know there in there. The pack sneaks up on Iggy and Gasman but Iggy detonates the bomb and flies through the roof with Gasman. So far I think the book is very exciting, especially for a graphic novel. One question I have is why did Max think that Iggy and Gasman weren't yes ready to go on a mission like this?

Final Hunger games post Owen Sherman
Hello one final time Spartan fans. This is my third and final blog on The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins. I know, I am kind of cutting it close, but once you start watching the Jamie Foxx show, you just can't pull your self away, ( kidding of course, I am just bad at deadlines). Anyways, I completed the entire book and what a thriller it was. I cant wait until the movie comes out so I can see what it looked like in real life!
So after the games Peeta and Katniss come back and while Peeta is receiving intense medical surgery, Katniss finds out she is in danger. I am not talking about danger like the danger you get in when you get stuck in the water and realize you cant swim and there is nobody around because your "pool" is one of those inflatable bounce houses you stole and filled with water in your back yard. I am talking about the kind of danger Martain Luther King was in when the government found out about him. Thats right, the government is after Katniss and Peeta. I guess I failed to realize in my last post the true reason behind the drinking of the poisonous berries trick. I thought it was for love, but it was actually to show the government that they don't control them. So I give them props. Once Katniss finds out she is in danger, she knows any big move she makes could be fatal. I mean look at the people who spoke out against the government. Martain Luther King? Killed. Tupac? Killed. And those are just the first two to come to mind. Knowing this, Katniss plays it smoothly, saying the berries were just out of love and didn't mean anything, but the president, President Snow, seems pretty ticked since, to quote the great poet Nelly, he just got played. Plus everybody watched them take on the government and defeat them, something no government wants, especially a controlling one like the United States. Although the book ends as soon as they arrive home, you can tell they are still in danger. One thing about the government, they are everywhere. What do you think the purpose of the NSA is? Anything with a camera or a microphone is going to be tapped into by the NSA, or whatever the future spy agency is called, when Katniss or Peeta walk by. They would be naive to think they are safe from the government because that is impossible. It really ends one story and begins another, which is the purpose of the sequel, which I am now excited to read.
I really liked this book. I didn't understand it correctly at the end of the games but it ties it in nicely at the end and I see why Katniss made the poison juice. I also think it shows that one person can take a stand against anything, in this case it being government control, and be heard. I don't think it was smart for them to challenge the government, since it is the largest force in the world, but it was the right thing to do and also the most courageous thing to do.
I believe the author wrote this because it showed that if you give something your all, you can almost never go wrong. It also showed some subtext of anti government sediment, but I am not going to touch that since I believe I have previously stated my opinions on that issue. Back to the giving it your all, do I think that realistically a small girl and an injured boy could adequately fight people who have trained for this their whole life and are about twice their size? No, but no book/ movie is going to kill off the main character, not even The Jamie Foxx Show, (if they did, it would be called the Jamie Foxless Show). I do believe though that the way she portrayed Katniss made her a viable contender for a winner, since she has skills in the forest, which is where the contest taked place, and it fits the theme perfectly when she wins AND one ups the government.
Going back to the theme, I believe it is never give up.This personifies Katniss perfectly. First she makes it longer than expected in the games, then, even with an injured teammate, she makes it to the final three, and then she pushes the massive Cato over the edge of the cornucopia to win The Hunger Games. She could have given up many times, but she powers through and is victorious.
To bring up a character I haven't said yet for a favorite, which is Katniss. I know, I know, it's bandwagon, but other than previously chosen Cato, theres nobody else you know well enough other than Peeta who's a small crippled bakers kid, definitely no the best. You may say Owen Sherman, you just bashed Katniss in your last post. Well, hear me out now. Katniss is the narrator of this story, so you know the most about her. She volunteer for the Hunger Games to save her sister. She then heals Peeta back to somewhat healthy even though it slows her down and gives her no real advantage to do so. She also defies the government, which is practically a death sentence, in front of the entire country. If that isn't strength and bravery, I don't know what is.
My favorite quote is actually a thought but it is a response to a statement so I will count it. When Peeta said Haymitch had been keeping them apart because he was mad, Katniss thought "More like to save their lives." She knew Haymitch was actually looking out for them because if they were by themselves in the same place, having defied the government, they may have "disappeared" like Amellia Airheart or Natalie Holloway. Haymitch is actually smarter than he appears and is commended for this.
I don't really have any questions about this book other than when the movie comes out because it looks like a thriller.

Jacks's blog post 3
Hello fellow Spartans. I'm back for my third and final blog post for the book that I have been reading. And yet if you have not yet read my first two post you should but I will remind you again that I have chosen to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw.
I guess I shall start where I last ended. Well it was a bad day for Greg getting seen by the girl he likes while wearing his moms pink sweatshirt as a skirt because he had sat on a chocolate Easter bunny that Manny had left on the seat. So Greg and Rodrick had been saying a word around the house called ploopy. and you could say she got tired of hearing it so she decides to ban the word from the house. So when ever the kids get caught saying it they have to pay Manny a dollar. Mom finds out this is working so she adds a bunch of other words to the list and in the end the kids end up going bankrupted.
So in my second blog post you would of read that dad hates having his kids look weak compared to his bosses kids. So dad decides to enroll Rodrick into a SAT class and makes Greg play rec League soccer. So Greg ends up on a team where he doesn't know the kids. When the coach wants the kids to make a team name Greg says they should be the Twisted wizards from a video game. But in the end they get named the Red Socks.
Soccer turns out to not be the thing for Greg so his dad is faced with one last choice sending the boys to boot camp. The camps named Spag Union and dad try's to convince Greg it would be a great idea for him. So that leads to the idea of boy scouts. So the first Boy Scouts meeting comes and Greg gets Rowley to sign up to. So when the boys are faced with the challenge of craving wood they cant do it and they get to carve soap instead.
The next day comes and dad found out about the carving so he wasn't happy. Well I guess that means boot camp. Greg wakes up at 11 and he remembers that Dad was suppose to take him to Boot Camp at 8. So he goes down stairs and notice dad isn't even dress sitting at the table. His dad says he rethought it and maybe greg can just do some push ups instead. So every thing end up working out for Greg in the end.
The overall book I thought was pretty good. My favorite character in the probably ends up being Rodrick because of him getting away with things. And I don't really have any questions about this book. So I guess that's it.

Sail By: James Patterson # 3
I just finished Sail! This has become my favorite book I've ever read. Its interesting and keeps you interested. I never wanted to put this book down. Whenever we were silent reading in class I always wished it was a little longer so I could see what happened.
In the end I was so happy. The family Dunne got back to there mainland, and on the couple of last pages they are at a resturaunt eating and they start talking about what they are going to do next summer. Their uncle said "Is anyone up for a sail?"Then everyone laughed. So now I wonder what's going to happen next, what all of the family members are doing.
Katherine found out about her husband Peter and Bailey in New York. She was very upset, but I guess if I found my husband was having an affair I would be very upset too! Who wouldn't be? I think the author wrote this to tell how this could be a real situation. Also to show how the children grow up even in the worst situations. My favorite character was Katherine, because it shows how she puts her children before anything else. She cares about their health and how well they do in school. In the begining they didn't have the fondest relationship between the 4 of them. Now they have all grown up and like eachother.
I don't have any questions in this book. Everything is pretty clear. Everything answers the questions as you go along. I hope people will read this book and like it as much as I did.

Bad Girls Don't Die blog 2.
I am still currently reading Bad Girls Don't Die by Katie Alender. Alexis is now talking to a guy named Carter Blume and they have a thing. They hang out at school ,but she is very quiet about what they have. Alexis and Kasey's Dad is in the hospital due to an accident he had. He has a broken leg and some broken ribs and some other internal problems going on with his body. He needs medical treatment and Alexis and Kasey are mad worried. Once Kasey can't stand to stay in the hospital room for long she says she needs some fresh air ,but her and Alexis end up walking two miles home. In the long hot sun. When they get home both Kasey and Alexis go to there room at about 10:30am. and don't come out the rest of the day. Both of them are fairly unsocial. Kasey was never very social ,but her best friend said all of these bad things about her which makes her more unsocial then she was. Alexis is a little higher than that because her arch enemy is popular and they bicker at each other in school and fight and have their days. The only question i really have is how and why she is so unsocial..?
Hunger games: Mockingjay
I am currently getting done reading Mockingjay. I was written by Suzanne Collins. Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. This book is good because of the suspense and the thrill in the book. Suzanne wrote this because it was part of the series and it clarifies everything in the other books. Fighting and survival and hardship that is the theme. The best character is Katniss because she is a boss. The questions I have for this book is that why do they have to do all the fighting.

Jack's blog post 2
So I have continued to read the book I have chosen which if you would of read my first blog post you would of already know that I have choose to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The last straw. I am currently around 2/3 of the way done with this book and in saying so I thought that so far the book is actually pretty funny and I find it quite interesting that I have finally found a book that I will keep reading because I actually have found something interesting to read for once instead of these long chapter books that I can never really seem to enjoy to much. So any was back to the book.
I last left off telling you about when Greg had stolen the teachers book and he blamed another kid for taking it and making that kid have to stay inside for recess. At the beginning of where I started back up Greg starts talking about what happen when he opened his lunch bag. He only had two fruits and NO SNACKS. So for Greg this was a pretty big problem for Greg because he usually relies on that little piece of sugar to get him threw the rest of the day. In saying so he can not even do one pull-up in his gym class which angers his teacher. When Greg gets home he asks his mom what happen to his snack and she responds by saying some one had stolen all of the snack which immediately makes me think of one person... Rodrick. So when dinners comes the next night Greg goes down stair to see if he can find any crumbs or wrappers in Rodrick's room. So then he hears Rodrick coming down stairs so he hides in the in his desk cabinet. Rodrick's phone eventually dies so he has to go up stairs. So that's when Greg makes a run for it. The days quickly get around to Thursday. When Greg gets home he finds his mom waiting for him, turns out she has gotten his report card and it is not good. So before Greg's dad gets home Greg invites his grandma over so he wont get in trouble. Smart thinking Greg! So next Tuesday rolls around and Greg knows his mom has gone shopping for snacks. So Greg hides in laundry basket to see who is stealing the snacks. So its mid night and Greg hears a sound. He looks threw the clothes and he sees who has been eating the food. DAD. So Greg quickly jumps out of the basket and scares dad. Right then mom hears noise walks into the room and sends both of the men off to bed.
So the next day greg decides to confront his dad for stealing his snacks but dad decides to go to bed early tonight because something is bothering him. turns out the family down the street has had another kid so for the party the grown ups have to try and make the kid laugh but Greg's dad can never succeed in that. Pretty soon Easter comes around and the family has to go to church. On the way to church Greg feels something sticky on his pants. Turns out manny has left a Chocolate easter bunny on the seat so since Greg cant wear his pants to church he has to wear his moms pink sweatshirt like a skirt. Church doesnt go so well because when they all stand up to sing the girl greg likes sees him like this and ends up laughing. Poor Greg.
So thats about all the farther i have read so far. I have about 1/3 of the book left. So far I think the theme of the book is to try to improve your own life and not others because it doesn't get you that far.
My favorite character in the book so far is Greg for sure because he isn't afraid to try and help out other people even if he knows its not going to work out. and I don't have any questions about the book so far but I probably will by the end of the book.

My favorite character in the book so far is Greg for sure because he isn't afraid to try and help out other people even if he knows its not going to work out. and I don't have any questions about the book so far but I probably will by the end of the book.
The Hunger Games: Owen Shermans second post
Hello again Spartan fans. I was going to watch another episode of the Jamie Foxx Show, but decided instead to blog about the great book I am reading called The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins.
So far I have read to the end of the games. The games where very exciting and made you sit on the edge of your seats until the end, kind of like if your were watching the Jamie Foxx Show. Basically the games go like this: The tributes, or entrants are set loose in a clearing surrounded by forest. Katniss, the main character, escapes the clearing, but not before grabbing a very useful backpack, and almost getting stabbed like O.J.'s ex. She escapes to the forest, her strong point, safely and hides out in a tree. The "careers", or kids that are pros, team up to eliminate the other competition. Although the careers do wreak havoc, they are unable to kill Katniss because she hides in the trees. Eventually she is found, but is able to chase away the careers using a bee hive, although the bees are deadly, not like the weak bees we currently have in America. The bees are called Tracker Jackers. She then meets a girl named Rue, and they become allies, until she is masacred by another tribute when Katniss leaves to destroy the careers camp. Katniss witnesses the killing and in turn stabs the kid up. She then finds an injured Peeta, the guy who is from her district, and you can tell they fall in love. It was probably the most predictable thing ever. They form an alliance and begin a romance. His injuries prove life threatening however, and she is forced to attend a feast to retrieve a healing medicine. The other living tributes, four, also attend and a career is killed, making the only remaining career the careers team leader Kato, who is pretty much a baller. Katniss heals Peeta and Thresh, the African American who killed the career at the feast, is killed when Kato avenges her death. This makes a Final Four of Katniss, Peeta, Kato, and a girl apparently not important enough to get a name, as she is only referred to as Foxface. Since the nameless characters never live long, she is killed by eating a poison apple. The Gamekeepers, or people who run the games, send wild dogs out to round Kato, and Katniss and Peeta, who are now in a huge relationship that they claim is fake, but you know is real since books always have a romance in them. They are rounded up together in the clearing they started out in and are forced to all climb into a giant cornocopia. There is some pushing and shoving and even though Kato is stronger and bigger than a girl and an meager, injured, boy, he is somehow pushed off the edge of the cornocopia and fed to the dogs, who end up to be resurected contestants in animal form. He is killed and Katniss and Peeta seemingly win since a deal was made that if two people from the same district are the last two standing then they will be co-champions. To me this seemed way to predictable since they are the main characters, of course they won't get killed of. However, a change up is thrown when the announcement is made that the agreement is illegal and one of them must kill the other. This seems like a great idea to me, but they are able to get out of it by threatening to both die at the same time and leave them with no winner. They are then announced co-champions. Yikes! To me it felt like
I was getting drowned in a pool of corn, since the ending was so corny, but that was how the games ended.
Although I did just rip this book at the end of the summary, overall I thought it was a good book. The ending of the games came off as a little corny and predictable, but the rest of the book was good, since there was lots of violence and excitement. If I was writing this book, I would have eliminated the romance, something it has a lot of, and added in some comedy, something it was short on, to make it better. I mean why do you think the Jamie Foxx Show is so good? But despite being short on the humor side, this book is still a classic.
I think the author wrote this book to show what government control will be like in the future. I won't go on my Ron Paul support rant like I did last post but there is still a high amount of government control, although no new types are introduced during the games, Katniss always remembers how it's the governments fault that she is here. The author is warning us that the government will be like this is the future.
The theme that this book is centered around I believe is that good things happen to good people. I don't know if this theme is true in real life, but it is the theme in this book because countless times in the book Katniss goes out of her way to help people where as Kato goes around killing people, and in the end look who won. I do think that it is a good theme and message, but it is not always true. She should have centered the theme around something stronger. Some good examples are To Kill A Mockingbird. The theme is to understand somebody you must look at things from there point of view always. Another good example of a strong theme is the O.J. trial. If the glove doesn't fit, the jury must acquit always, and it was a very strong and loud theme, but I am not the author so I should probably stop criticizing her choices.
My personal favorite character was Kato. I know, I know, he is the bad guy, but maybe it is because he is similar to me. I mean strong, good looking, just surround him with some women, give him a basketball jersey and a Ron Paul hat, and have him watch the Jamie Foxx Show and you have me. Of course I am joking, but he is my favorite character. You may ask why. Well, I didn't want to go band wagon and say Katniss or Peeta, so I looked outside the box. Lets look at Kato's story. First, he volunteers to go to a game where he has a one in twenty-four chance of living. That is courage. Then, once he arrives, he is the leader of a fairly large alliance of seven people who are all major contenders for Hunger Games champion, That's leadership. Then, after the food supply is destroyed he and only one other career survive. That is survival skills. Then, when he witnesses one of his team members getting killed, he chases her killer for days until he finds and kills him. That is loyalty. On paper Kato may look like a pretty bad guy, and he has some major character flaws, but I believe, even as the bad guy, he is the best character.
My favorite quote takes place right before the tributes are taken into the arena. Katniss asks for some advice and she is told "Here's some advice, stay alive" by her friend and stylist. This really shows the chaos and tenseness of the Hunger Games while mixing in a little humor as well.
I was fortunately able to understand everything in the book, so I do not have any questions.

Jacks blog post 1
I'm reading a book called Diary of a wimpy kid : the last straw. This book is wrote by Jeff Kinney. Now the book its self is a pretty basic book. Its a sequel to the other two Diary of a wimpy kid books. The book its self doesnt have chapters in it. Instead it goes by the months in a year. Im currently right now about 1/3 of the way done with the book. The book is actually kinda funny.
So the book starts off like this, it starts on New Years day. The main character is named Greg. So on New years day what better way to start off the year then with the new years resolution. But this year is going to be different for Greg. Instead of the normal type of new years resolution Greg decides that instead of helping out him self this year he is going to help other people to improve there life's. So rest of the family as well. His moms resolution for this year is that she is going to get to the gym more but, instead she spends the whole day watching TV. His dads resolution for the year is that he is going to try and go on a very strict diet. Well that whole plan doesn't work out to well either. Because right after dinner that night Greg walks out side to take out the trash and he finds his dad eating cookies. Greg also has two brothers. His little bro Manny's resolution for the year was that he was going to throw his Binky away because he was a big boy. But that only last for about 5 mins.. Now theirs that one lazy person in all the family's and in this book his name is Rodrick. Rodrick doesn't have a resolution because he feels that his life is already prefect.
So its the Saturday after break ends and dad notices that the bench press he bought Greg hasn't been used once and this makes him up set because his boss has his kids out side every day being sports fanatics. So dad decides to kick the kids out of the house so the kids end up burning Manny's toy car for fun.
So the week starts off bad for greg because he leaves his bag in his moms car and his mom comes into give it to him but shes in her work out clothes so she embarrassed greg. The end of the week well greg gets this great idea to start walking home from school but theres a big hill so greg asks his best friend rowley to give him a piggyback ride up the hill. The part that I ended on ends up with greg stealing a book from a teacher and blames another kid for it.
So far I think that its one of the better books i've read. The author made the book I think so that he could continue on the series and give kids something fun to read.

Sail By: James Patterson Blog # 1
The book I'm reading is Sail by James Patterson. This is probably one of the best books I've ever read! I like this book because the chapters are short but the book is long. So far I've read to page 195 and chapter 61.
This book is about a family ( The Family Dunne) who goes on a boat trip and something happens along the way. Katherine is the mother of three children (Carrie, Ernie, and Mark) and she has lost her first husband on a sailing trip and is on the second. While the family goes on this trip Katherine's new husband goes on a business trip to New York. Peter ( her husband) is a lawyer and Katherine is a doctor. Before Katherine and her kids leave to set sail with Jake her brother in law, Katherine say her goodbyes to Peter. When the first week goes by, I found out that Peter is having an affair with another woman whose name is Bailey, while he is in New York. Katherine does not know that Peter is with another woman, but Katherine also doesn't know that Jake sees her differently. More than a sister-in-law. Then after about 2-3 weeks the Family Dunne boat has blown up! Everyone on the boat is in the water hopefully not drowning. Carrie and I think Mark are swimmers and compete in school as a sport. Carrie saves Jake from a shark that might attack the whole family, but she finds the red box that has stuff to help you in just incase you are stranded. She finds a gun and she has never shot a gun before, so she is very nervous and doesn't want to miss and hit one of her family members. She fires the gun and it doesn't hit the shark, but also doesn't hit anyone else. Now Peter, whose in New York finds out that something is wrong with his family and doesn't want to deal with Bailey anymore, and wants to figure out what happened to The Family Dunne. While the Dunne family is in the ocean almost everyone is injured and Katherine doesn't have a leg and the children had some burns and Jake was knocked out for quite a while.
This is probably the best book I've ever read. It just is very interesting to read and keeps you into it. I like how the chapters are short too. That also keeps me reading, and keeps me excited that I've read that far.
I think the author wrote this book because he wanted an interesting book to have people read and keep interested. Maybe also he wanted to put a point of view into the audiences minds and make them think about what could happen to someone. I don't really have any questions right now, but I might later in the book.

Sail: By: James Patterson Blog # 2
I am still reading Sail, by James Patterson. I've gotten to a new part and it's very intersting, and it keeps me reading.
I got past the part where the Dunne Family is in the ocean. They made a raft out of the wood from the boat that exploded. They have finally found land! The children think that the island will have food on it, and hotels, but once they get there they find out its a desserted island. No one is there. They are stranded. I'm not for sure but I think Mark found a bottle, beer bottle to be exact, so they had a good idea to send out a note in the bottle like they see in movies. So they did. Now Peter Katherine's husband is still in new york and with Bailey. But I don't think Peter likes Bailey. Peter is more worried about Katherine and the kids. He's a layer and was in a trial, while this was happening. So of course her would be worried.
I'm not sure about my favorite quote yet, I will have to look back through. And I don't have any questions now, I did in the begginning but it got answered. My question was what do the guys in the begginning of the book have to do with anything, But I found out that the Family Dunne sent the bottle, so that got cleared up. I will deffentaly keep reading and finish this book. It's so far one of my favorites!

I am reading "Satchel Paige Striking Out Jim Crow". It is written by James Sturm and Rich Tommaso. I have just finished the book so 1944 to the end. In this part Mr. Emmet and his son went to a baseball game in town. The game is the Satchel Paige All-stars vs Tuckwilla All-stars. There was a lot of desegregation. Satchel Paige did not show up till the 9th inning but before he did the game was tied but then Satchel came and kept the other team from scoring and they did score so they won. This was easily the most interesting part of the book. I think he wrote this because Satchel Paige is a very interesting man is historic man to. The theme is Jim Crow laws and baseball. The best character is Satchel Paige because he is a historic. There is not many quotation from the book. One question I have is why they don't tell the story of Satchel Paige with Satchel Paige as the main talker?

The book i am reading "Satchel Paige Striking Out Jim Crow." I read 1942 to 1944. In 1942 Mr Walker Jennings died. The main character is Satchel Paige but Mr. Emmet is talking about him. Mr. Emmet's cotton season has started but he does not make his son help he has he learn his lesson's and catching fish and stuff like that. Then his son on the way home from fishing got beat up by the Jennings twins. The son works on the cotton field now. In 1943 Mr. Emmet went to church for the first time since he came back from his baseball tour. The book is good but is very confusing. The theme is Jim Crow laws and baseball. The best character is Satchel Paige. "All the nice statements in the world ain't gonna knock down Jim Crow." On question I have about the book is who is the book about?

Out of the dust- Blog #3
I have finally finished reading Out of The Dust. In the ending her father gets remarried to a woman named Louise. Billy Jo really likes her and looks up to her. A miricole happens, it finally rains for three days straight. She finally realizes that you can't run away from life, except to get thru it and push foward. She was very determined to find herself and who she was and I think she's very phenominal. I loved this book a lot! I couldn't stop reading it. Great read for anyone.
I really enjoy reading this book, its very exciting and suspending onto what will come next. This book isn't normal like regular books with chapters, it is set up in poem form with titles to each event. That's another reason why I find it interesting.
A reason why she wrote this book was because she took a trip toAlabama and really enjoyed it and thought she would write about her and experience and ended up writing a book.
I think that the theme of this book or what she was trying to portray was how bad it can get during the Dust Bowl, and the limited amount of things they had, like food and shelter. Especially during these years the number of doctors and medicine wasn't very high so things sometimes could take a toll for the worst. I also think forgiveness was another theme she was going for-the relationships between the people and not only the people but also the land.
So far my favorite character in the book is Billy Jo, she's just very strong and willing to do whatever it takes to get back on track without her mom. You can tell she definitely loves the piano more then ever. I find her very inspirational. Throughout the book you can tell she’s grown and changed, very strong as a person in the end and helped her father as much as possible.
“It almost rained Saturday. The clouds hung low over the farm. The air felt thick. It smelled like rain. In town, the sidewalks got damp, that was all.”- This was one of the quotes I liked out of the book that Billy Jo said. I think what she was trying to get at was that they hope and pray for it to rain there but when something does come its not enough or just sprinkles. All they want is it to rain there.
I have no questions about the book, loved it all.

So far after the mourning of her mother and baby brother she never got to see, they have a funeral for her brother "Franklin" since he didn't make it. Billy Jo tries to handle the situation and turn to the piano for comfort, but the wounds and scars on her hands make her hesitant to play.
Billy Jo is scared for herself, in one year there has been no improvement with her dad and she's afraid he might die. That's what scares her the most is that she'll be the only one left with no one to care for her.
She can't stand the misery she's going through along with her father, so she decides to run away. Along her journey of running away, she swaps stories with a man who abandoned his wife, thus she realizes that running away will only make the crisis worse. She decides to return home to her father. Togetherness will give strength and hope. This is as far as I have gotten and am planning to finish the rest of it soon!

For free reading time, I am reading a book called Gone with the Wind. Karren Hesse is the author of this book, it received a John New berry Medal. I am almost halfway through my book and am really enjoying it. As far as I have read I think she is an amazing author.
The setting in the book took place in the 1920's. It was also during the Great Depression. The girl in the book, Billy Jo, she's around ten years old and lives in Oklahoma (the Panhandle). She is very skinny, freckle-faced, and has a hunger for playing fierce piano. Her dad had wished for a boy, so that's why her name sounds like a boys name.
Her mother gets pregnant again, and the dust bowl comes, they have a lot of droughts were they live so producing crops for food is very difficult and has a hard time providing for the family. An accident happens which severely puts a strain on Billy Jo and her father, a pail of kerosene had caught fire, her mom had ran out to get the father. Billy Jo thought to grab the pail and take it outside, her mom was coming back at the same time and the flaming oil splashed onto her apron and she caught on fire, while she was pregnant. She was burned very badly, when she was ready and expecting her child, she and the baby both died because of the terrible burns they got. After the accident, her father becomes depressed and doesn'w seem like himself. Billy Jo tries to help him but it doesn't seem to help. This is as far as I have gotten. So far I am loving the book! Great read.

The book I am reading is "Satchel Paige Striking Out Jim Crows." It is written by James Sturm and Rich Tommaso. This blog is when i read to 1942. There is really no chapters so I am going by the years. What has happened so far is there is this negro Satchel Paige and he is playing baseball in the 1900's. He is really good at baseball so it is telling how and when he got to the white league. So far the book is good it has a lot of in the action stuff. I think the athur wrote this one because Satchel Paige is a very interesting story. Two it is pretty much a biography about Satchel. The theme is either baseball or desegregation. The best character so far is Satchel.

I am reading the book Alphas. It is written by Lisi Harrison. I just finished the book. Throughout the corse of the book the main characters Skye, Allie J, Charlie, Renne, and Triple are taken on an exciting adventure during their stay at the Alphas Academy. These teenage girls are excepted into the elite Alphas Academy for girls with exponential talent. Skye is an excellent dancer. Allie J is a song writer. Charlie is a great inventor. Renne is an actress. Triple is a dancer, model, and actress. The girls are expected to hone in on their talents during their stay at the academy. Charlie has a big secret. Her mother worked for the founder of the academy, Shira, she was dating one of Shira's boys (which is forbidden for the girls at the academy) and she helped invent the island. She must keep all of it a secret. She isn't the only one with a secret, Allie J is really Allie A. Allie A Abbot impersonates Allie J Abbot and has to keep it a secret or risk being thrown out of the academy. The girls attend classes by day and sneak out to see Shira's boys at night. When Charlie steels a special key that allows the girls access to every place on the island they find themselves on a magical journey that lands them in Shira's office. Now they face being sent home.
I really enjoyed this book! I like the way it was written. Each chapter rotates from the point of view of each of the girls. This makes it interesting to read. I also like how real the characters become as they face many challenges. The author wrote the book to teach life lessons. To reach out to other girls and give them good advice, also to tell a great story. I think this was her motivation to write the book because as readers we learn many life lessons. The theme is never give up. Each of the girls face many challenges they must overcome. They must stay focused on their goals and let nothing stop them from achieving their goals.
The best character is Charlie. She is rejected by the other girls at first. She feels very alone and doesn't think her stay at the academy is worth leaving her mom, her boyfriend, and friends behind. She pushes forward and stay focused on her goals, and eventually she receives the girls' approval.
"If you had not suffered as you have, there would be no depth to you, no humility, no compassion." This is an important quote stated in the book. It goes along with the theme of the book. The girls each faced challenges and had to overcome them. The girls must struggle to appreciate their accomplishments. Their struggle makes them a better person.
I have no questions about the book.

I am reading the book Alphas. This book is by Lisa Harrison. I am currently on chapter eighteen. So far we have been introduced to all the characters in the book. There are five main characters. Skye Hamilton is a dancer. Charlie is an inventor. Renee is an actress. Triple Threat is an actress, a dancer, and model. Allie J is a writer. These girls meet for the first time at the Alphas academy. They were each excepted into the academy because of their extraordinary talent. They must learn to live together while attending Alphas academy. The first night at the academy the girls sneak out to see the extremely handsome Brazilian Boys. They are the only boys on the island. They are Shira's son's (the inventor of Alphas academy) which makes them off limits to the girls at the academy. The girls (except Charlie) go to see the boys. Charlie has a secret. She helped design the Alphas island along with her mother, who was the second in command. She was also dating Darwin. Darwin is one of Shira's sons. Charlie had to sacrifice her mothers job and her boyfriend to be excepted into the academy. She couldn't tell Darwin why she was breaking up with him or the other girls about her secret. Once the girls met the boys they exchanged numbers and made plans to see each other again. Shira finds out and calls Charlie to give her more information. Charlie tells Shira it was Renee's idea, and she is sent home. The girls catch on to Charlie and she is soon isolated by the girls. But Charlie isn't the only one with a secret. Allie A Abbott has been pretending to be Allie J so she could escape her small town. She couldn't tell anyone about her secret identity because she would be sent home. The girls face many challenges and learn many life lessons while attending the academy.
I love this book! It is filled with suspense and drama. As a reader, you learn more and more about the girls as you read each chapter. You see the personal growth of each girls as she faces new challenges and learns to overcome them. I think the author wrote this book to teach life lessons and to show some of the challenges girls face growing up. The theme of the book is don't give up and push forward even when times get tough.
The best character is Charlie. She has had to give up a lot just to go to a place where people don't except her. She keeps her head up and stays focused on achieving her goals. Even though the girls she is rooming with are acting more like her enemy then her friend, she focused on academics and doesn't let them get her down.
"We know what we are, but not what you may be." This quote was in the book. It was used to give the girls advice on their first day of school at the academy. It is important because the girls discover who they are while at the academy.
I don't have any questions about the book so far.

My Second Post on Shiver By Maggie Stiefvater
I have now read to chapter twenty-nine. They have not yet found Jack. Grace and Sam start to become even more close he is telling her of his past and stuff about the pack. One thing that Grace finds out is that when she was bit by the wolves she became a wolf on the inside but not on the outside. She probably won't ever change either, but Sam has been able to send her "pictures" through his mind when hes a wolf. Grace starts to go to school again she and Sam drive to Rachel's house to pick her up for school. Grace introduces Sam to Rachel. When Grace gets to school Isabel, Jack's sister, talks to Grace and tells her she saw Jack and hes not dead. He told her to ask Grace to explain to her why hes not dead. Grace tells Isabel that she needs help and is weird.
The book is good. I like it because it grabs my attention each time Sam almost turns back into a wolf.
The theme is love and suspense. Love because of Sam and Graces relationship. Suspense because I never know when Sam could change into a wolf.
Grace is the best Character because we read more of her thoughts.
Question's I have are why does Sam's ex, shes a wolf now, hate Grace.

Now I have finished Death Sentence Escape From The Furnace by Alexander Gordon Smith Alex has passed the wardens test he is escorted by other black suits to his new quarters, where he is told by the warden that this is his new room and that he is soldier of furnace. That his nightmares are over with now because he wont dream again. When he wakes he finds out that the warden was right, because he didn't have a single dream at all. The warden walks in the room with a suit and gives it to Alex, after making sure he doesn't remember his name and who he is, which he doesn't.
He starts the tour of the area that Alex has never been in before, because only black suits and the warden were allowed in there. Alex sees where the weezers stay and becomes nervous. The warden reassures him that they wont recognize him and tells him not to look at them. When they exit the weezers room through the next door they come across all the prisoners who's bodies rejected the nectar and caused them to turn into hideous creatures with no recognizable features that the warden calls berserkers.
They enter the next room and find two black suits beating on a prisoner named Zee. The warden tells Alex to kill him, and he just stands there as the kid says his name. The warden hits him, and that causes Alex to remember his name and turn on the warden and the two black suits in the room. Zee and Alex flee the room and in the process of running free Gary from his cage to distract a group of black suits with shotguns. Run into the infirmary, but they stop to free Simon, a kid who's body rejected the nectar. So they run into the wardens room and they find a hidden room while looking for blue prints to the prison. So now they have the blue prints that they found in the room. They run to an elevator and take it to the level with all the cells.
Next they destroy the elevator and they convince everyone to riot against the black suits so they can escape. As the kids riot and as they let out they're anger thats been held in for years, and they some how start a fire in the middle of the floor.
After a while the black suits get there and theres another fight. Then Alex blows them up by sending a propane tank flying at them and it gets shot by a black suit out of pure luck.
Then a berserker comes down the other elevator and Alex gets a shot of nectar from simmon so he can defend the prisoners. So he beats the berserkers and Simon, Zee, and Alex climb the elevator shaft. So when they finaly reach the top they raise the elevator full of the other prisoners, so that they can all escape. So that is where the book ends.

I have gotten a lot farther in Death Sentence by Alexander Gordon Smith, and now I am almost finished with it now, but anyways now that Alex has fallen asleep he has these weird night mares and when he wakes up the warden ask him about his dreams then answers his own question. Then Alex falls asleep and has more nightmares, then later on you find out that Alex has been blind because of the iv pumping that black liquid into his veins. After a while he can open his eyes but he realizes that everything is silver and he can see in the dark like a black suit another set of people that have been mutated by the weezers and the black liquid. Then the warden starts talking to Alex trying to get him to accept his fate, but right before he does he remembers his name and starts screaming I am Alex Sawyer over and over.
Next he is forced to watch a non stop film of people and animals being killed with his eyes pinned open so he can't close his eyes. After a while a black suit tells him to give in it will be easier on him and eventually he does. He goes into surgery on his legs, which are packed full of steel cable like muscles after the surgery and then a little later on he goes in for another surgery and another after that.
When he goes in for surgery on his arms some thing happens, a creature breaks loose from a surgery room and starts beating up on these (super humans) black suits. Thats when Alex remembers who the creature is even though whoever it once was is now unrecognizable and he starts yelling at it, you are Gary your name is Gary and the thing drops him after a shock from a cattle prod or some thing.
Now that he remembered the creatures name he new his, and the warden knew that and had him watch that film again but when Alex was passed out the weezers did some more surgery on him. Later he forgot his name again and the warden knew this now after some questions and Alex once again falls asleep. When he wakes up he is chained to a wall. Which he rips from the wall to escape the water exploding from the pipe as he hits a dead end with the water flooding the tunnel behind him fast, he leaps up into a tunnel above him and reaches a road block. he starts to punch the steel hatch blocking his path and eventually it goes flying and he escapes death. then he is knocked out, but when he wakes he has to fight off some giant rats. He wins the battle even though he was out numbered a million to one, and he passes the wardens test.

I have started reading the third book in the Escape From Furnace series, which is called Death Sentence, by Alexander Gordon Smith. It starts off with Alex trying to let his mind slip away so he would die, but the character called the Warden won't let him do that because he wants to turn him into one of his monsters. Then the warden has these guys with gas mask stitched into they're face called Weezers put an Iv full of a black liquid in his arm. Then Alex falls asleep after that and that's when I stopped reading for a while.

So far in my book Mark has went on a trip through the desert hills. He mysteriously fell into a blue which seemed to have either taken him to the future, past, or onto another plant. Currently he is fighting off strange creatures and fighting to stay alive after crashing down from a tree where he was trying tot get food. So far I think its great because the author holds back sooo much information from you and lets you figure out the mystery by yourself. I am also into survival type story so this really fits along great with that. I think the author wrote this because its fun and interesting. I would love writing this book because there is so much that can happen and so many ways the plot line could go. I think the biggest theme the author is trying to make is that no matter what happens if you don't give up faith you will prevail. So far there is only one character. His name is Mark and he seems to have a little bit of an idea as to what he is doing.”Good now what this be.” Mark cut the vine on the package and unfolded the skin. Inside was a bluish piece of glass. Mark was astonished. He’d had no idea these people knew how to make glass. He turned it over in his hand. There were letters printed on the bottom: PRODUCT OF THE COCA-COLA COMPANY”. This is a very important quotation because it proves that he is still on earth. He then needs to find out when and how he got there. So far I have little questions other than where is he? and how exactly he got there.
This is Trevor Yahr I dont know what happened.
